Summary/Abstract: Works for flute (solo, ensemble, concert) represent a significant part of the creative heritage of South Ukrainian composers. Of considerable interest is the cycle of pieces for flute solo "Petals in the Snow" by the contemporary composer Oleg Taganov from the city of Nikolaev. The range of expressive means used in the author’s composition is vividly expressive and modern. The article reveals a close relationship of the content and technical elements. The indicated harmony of the plastic imagery and composition technique is due to the originality of the cycle program, which was based on some poems by famous Japanese poets of the 12th century.
