Summary/Abstract: Attention in this study is given to the first fifty years of the developement of Macedonian literature after 1945, from the perspective of various types of renewal of the literary traditions. In this area, three main strategies were identified: canonisation, adaptation and deformation. They were helpful in the stabilization, transformation and revision of key currents of the local literary heritage (medieval, folkloristic and – to certain degree – enlightenment with romantic). All of them point to the configuration of the tendencies which will carry forward the national literature into the phase of the new codification after 1991.
