Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with minor place-names including the nouns cíp, cvik(l) and klín – all of them ‚piece of land in the form of a tip, wedge‘, ‚corner(-piece)‘ – and their derivatives in the area of Moravia and the Czech part of Silesia. Almost all of these names are metaphorical and are motivated by the shape of the object. In the first part of the article the autor concentrates on formal features of the respective minor place- -names. In the second part she pays attention to the distribution of the names. She also summarizes the dialectal phenomena of these names. The findings of the research are presented on maps.
