Summary/Abstract: In the prose discourse of the following authors: Petre M. Andreevski, Jovan Pavlovski, Venko Andonovski, Luan Starova, Murat Isaku and Kim Mehmeti, the most common female character is patriarchal. Furthermore, the treatment of this character speaks of the construction and deconstruction of femininity, female identity, but also of the attempts of these women to appear outside of the patriarchal frame. As a counterweight to this, in a much smaller representative sample, the free woman is presented. Through the plethora of observed female characters (58) in the analyzed prose texts representing the Macedonian and Albanian narrative, we can notice that the woman is often hidden in the shadows of the man, minimizing the space the she needs.
