CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION WORKS ON THE FOUNTAIN IN STROSSMAYER PARK IN SPLIT

Summary/Abstract: This article gives a more detailed description of the executive conservation and restoration works on the stone fountain in Strossmayer Park in Split. The fountain, made in the workshop of the sculptor Pavle Bilinić, was placed in the park in the middle of the 20th century, on the place where the pavilion once use to be. Conservation and restoration works were executed in November 2020, commissioned by the Tourist Bord of the City of Split, and the contractor was the company Kvinar d.o.o. from Podstrana. The overall intervention was consisted of the preparation of documentation, treatment with a biocidal agent, cleaning, reconstruction, gluing and preventive protection of the fountain and its decorative elements. The fountain in Strossmayer Park is one of the few preserved in this area, and therefore has an important historical and artistic significant in the city of Split.
