Summary/Abstract: In this essay I will bring together a number of pretextsrelated explicitly or implicitly to the theme of friendship – experiencesand concepts (§ 1), case studies (§ 2), exercises (§ 3), and again patterns(§ 4), variations (§ 5), and styles (§ 6) – which raise significant issues thatI will use as an introduction to philosophical counseling. The aim is anoriginal introduction to philosophical counseling starting fromphilosophical counseling itself and to show concretely, I hope alsoeffectively, what a pretext function means.
