Summary/Abstract: This article presents the analyses access to university studies in Poland for rural youth. The empirical foundation of the research is based upon the data covering the entire population of students from three Polish universities of different prestige from 2006 to 2018. The following three trends emerge from the data gathered. Firstly, we observe a surge in the presence of rural youth in the structure of the three universities studied. Secondly, the presence of rural youth in the universities has risen regardless of their academic prestige and size; this trend applies to all types and level of education (bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, doctoral and unified master programs). Thirdly, despite the increasing rates of rural youth’s presence at universities, the vertical distances – measured by the type of students’ place of residence – between universities of different academic reputation remained unchanged.
