Summary/Abstract: The current paper builds on larger concerns regarding the role of the humanities nowadays, as well as the connectedness between teaching science and technology, on the one hand, and humanities-related subjects, on the other, in order to consider the extent to which humanities-related classes can complement objectives, characteristics of science and technology classes. It does so by investigating the ways in which topics such as the ones related to agricultural technology, in particular, and sustainability, in general, can prove to be of great potential to classes of teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP). In order to plea for the effectiveness of this approach from a learning perspective, the paper makes reference to exercises completed with 1st-year students at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca within the framework of English language seminars and points to the legitimacy of the inclusion of agricultural technology and sustainability-related exercises as part of the English classes, based as well on a number of examples of referential coursebooks of teaching General English (GE).
