The Impact of the Technological Imaginary on the Contemporary Society – a Multidisciplinary Approach on the Post-humanistic Utopia

Summary/Abstract: This article presents and explores the digitalization process, the artificial intelligence, the virtual reality, cyborgs and genetic experiments, on which the posthumanistic theory is based. Posthumanism becomes the central point of an interfaced, virtual world, building a whole network by means of communication. We shall examine the social impact of post-humanistic ideas from this perspective, which proves how easily this theory was influenced by several philosophical concepts, which consequently become a significant aspect of the modern contemporary social culture. Posthumanism as a cultural phenomenon is the result of the connection between science and technological imaginary, revealing the dynamic relationship between subject and the world. The new approaches on the connection between culture and nature derive from the change of perspective on the meaning of humanity as a concept, as it can be found in the new social, technological and economical context. All these elements represent a new version of reality, shaped and influenced by technology, thus becoming a part of the present. This study is a multidisciplinary approach, from an anthropological, philosophical, scientific and technological perspective.
