Summary/Abstract: This article describes in detail the concept of A Slovak-Polish-Russian Dictionary of Linguistic Terms (Slovensko-poľsko-ruský slovník jazykovedných termínov), which was compiled by a team of authors from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov. Three volumes of this translation-explanatory dictionary deal with the terminology of three linguistic levels: phonology, morphology and syntax, and they may be the starting point for other volumes. The paper outlines the state of Slovak-Polish-Russian translation lexicography with regard to linguistic sources, and evaluates the state of processing of Slovak, Polish and Russian linguistic terminology in the form of monolingual encyclopaedias and explanatory dictionaries. It also mentions reference sources the authors drew upon when compiling the dictionary. The article presents motivation for the compilation of a Slovak-Polish-Russian dictionary of linguistic terminology, pointing out the need for such a publication and identifying the spheres of its application.
