Summary/Abstract: The situation in the field of media legislation is characterized by a well-established legal framework in accordance with the democratic principles of freedom of media expression. Some elements of the law point to incompleteness in terms of regulation of media advertising, transparency of media ownership, editorial transparency, media concentration and financing of media from public sources. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is no legal basis in the field of online media. When the Law on Protection against Defamation was passed, the historical heritage of those for whom it was intended was known, but in addition to the legal solutions that needed to be prescribed, extremely great powers were given to political representatives of the international community from the aspect of operationalization and practical application of the peace agreement. The aim of this paper is to present the development of media law in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to examine its implementation in court proceedings in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Analytical descriptive method, legal normative method, comparative method and statistical procedures for data analysis and interpretation were used. The results of this research show that there has been a significant increase in the number of cases in the competent courts, based on which it can be concluded that the implementation of this law is successful.
