Summary/Abstract: Systemic Transformation in Poland allowed the development of socalled third sector, or NGO sector. Many new NGOs have emerged from the 90s of the twentieth century covering with their activities virtually all areas of social life. Those already existing further developed and widened its scope of operations. NGOs activity, despite their undeniably positive character, is also heavily criticized. This article describes the attitude of Poles to charity in general, as well as confidence in the selected NGOs on the basis of studies carried out by specialized centers. Various measures taken by organizations to enhance their credibility is also presented here.
