A WRITER OF THE STARTING POINT

Summary/Abstract: Important writers of the Banat region at one point felt theneed to talk about their predecessors, in an desire to legitimize their ownefforts, but also to establish and continue a tradition. One of theseprecursors is Virgil Birou. Author of several nonfiction books, he is also theauthor of a novel, but, like many writers then, at first he published someshort stories. One of them, "Ghiorghi Raţa is clear with the revolution," willbe resumed, with minimal changes in "The World without Sky," but it worksvery well and separately, being built around a special event in a miner's life,to a revolt that will turn out to be quite different.Between the two variants,the differences are minimal and primarily focused on language andstylistics.
