Summary/Abstract: ersonal experience, generally difficult to communicate, the pilgrimage is both a social and cultural phenomenon. It is highly recognized even at a institutional level by the classification of certain pilgrimage routes (as Compostela) as World Heritage. It is also social, and by its mythical aspects, testify about comportments beyond contemporary sociability. The present paper aims to contribute to a better understanding of the camino experience by exploring its present meanings with special focus on Santiago de Compostelle.
