Gandhi Reception in the Hungarian-Speaking Areas

Summary/Abstract: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is one of the most prominent, well-known and perhaps most acclaimed personalities of the 20th century, who set an example not only in his homeland but all over the world with his thinking and “teachings”, with his whole work and life. The aim of this article is to examine the extent and nature of Gandhi’s reception in the Hungarian-speaking areas of the Carpathian Basin in the light of the contemporary Hungarian-language press.
