Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is an in-depth contextualization, focusing on the main events that marked the relationship between Turkey and NATO after the Cold War, prior to investigating the new coordinates of the relationship between Ankara and NATO that followed the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis is focused on the very recent developments that took place between March 2020 and March 2021, with the intention to identify the new objectives of the Turkish foreign policy and their impact on the ties with NATO. In the theoretical section I present the implications of the implementation by the political establishment in Ankara of the so-called ‘Neo-Ottoman’ ideology. This section will highlight the implications that this ideology has on the Ankara-NATO relationship. The study relies mainly on qualitative data including document analysis and official statements issued by the Turkish Government and NATO member states officials during analysed period.
