Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present paper is to collect and present geographical terms included by Vuk Karadžić in his dictionary. The excerption yielded nearly 500 lexical items. The collected materials are classified, according to the usual practice, into four main groups: 1. Designations of the elevated landforms; 2. Designations of the depressed landforms; 3. Hydrographic terms (both physiogenic and anthropogenic) and 4. Terms designating the morphological-vegetative properties of the soil, the latter group including terms related to the vegetative cover, soil types and agriculture. The terms recorded by Vuk are compared with those discussed in Joseph Schütz’s monograph, partly also with the contemporary evidence provided by the author’s field research in Vuk’s birthplace Tršić, his native region of Jadar and the neighbouring Rađevina. Omitted are a few cases of homonymy, i.e. words attested elsewhere, but not by Vuk, as geographical terms, e.g. blizanci ‘source’ (in Vuk only: ‘twins’), nizìna ‘plain’ (in Vuk only: ‘string of gold coins’). At the end of the paper the geographical terms are listed, by referring to its paragraphs.
