Summary/Abstract: The article traces chronologically the most important moments of the development of the library at the Institute for Historical Studies – BAS from its establishment until 2020. Facts are collected about the state of the library fund in different years until today; the conclusions are illustrated with diagrams. Attention is paid to the work of the library nowadays and the services it provides. The separate collections and some valuable editions that the library owns are briefly revealed.
