Summary/Abstract: This text begins by introducing a list of questions for researchers in the field and proceeds to examine how a programme in Czech Yiddish Studies might be established and organised, both as a scholarly field and, potentially, a field of scientific research. Respondents from home and abroad generally agree on the need for such a programme, dedicated to the annotated translation and study of Yiddish writing in the Czech lands from the early modern period, and on other individual linguistic and literary scholarly tasks related to Eastern Yiddish or Jewish ethnolect. In the second section, the authors summarise these suggestions and anticipate the various ways this article might spark discussion in the scholarly community, which could be the first step in establishing an inter-university Yiddish research and teaching centre. Jewish studies (in Prague and Olomouc) would primarily collaborate with foreign Jewish and Yiddish studies, as well as individual scholars; active involvement by the relevant existing disciplines, such as German, American, Slavic, and Czech studies, is encouraged (at the universities mentioned above and elsewhere).
