Summary/Abstract: The introduction of martial law on December 13, 1981 initiated mass repression and the internment of people belonging to Solidarność (Solidarity). From the very beginning, the Church stood up for the victims and their families. Help was organized. On December 17, 1981, Primate Józef Glemp established the Primate’s Committee for Aid to People Deprived of Freedom and Their Families. This work became the basis and model for the creation of Polish archbishops and episcopal aid committees in our country. The author of the article introduced the reader to the operation of organized help in the Primate’s committee, where clergy and lay people were involved. The author presented the figure of Bishop Czesław Domin, involved in the work of distributing food donations and medicines obtained by sea from Western countries. The following part of the article presents the figure of Bishop Ignacy Jeż and his activities for the aggrieved in the Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) diocese. The organizational structures of the Bishop’s Committee to Aid People Deprived of Freedom and Their Families in the Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Diocese were also discussed.
