Summary/Abstract: Compelled by the bankruptcy of his father Rashko Gerganoff left Bulgaria in 1905to become the most prolific mid-20th century Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor’s architect with valuable contribution to Michigan Modern. Investigation of Gerganoff ’s family, educational and professional development context serves as a base for the architectural analysis of the major stylistic influences on R.S. Gerganoff‘s architectural production before his trip back to Europe and Bulgaria in 1933.
