Summary/Abstract: The aim of our paper is to present the work and thought of Yakov (Jacob) Psantir (1820-1902) (sometimes spelled Psanter), a maskil who wrote popular historical works in Yiddish and Hebrew about the history of the Jews in Romania. We will also tackle his position on the Haskalah movement in this country.
