Summary/Abstract: The paper contains an analysis of the Polish preposition ‘na’ in sentences randomly selected from the National Corpus of Polish (NKJP) which pertain to legal issues. The generative linguistic description of ‘na’ at the syntactic and semantic level is followed by a list of Polish legal language phrases compared with their translations into German. The analysis shows that the majority of these phrases are also translated as prepositional phrases. The preposition ‘na’ is, however, replaced by various prepositions: ‘an’, ‘auf’, ‘aufgrund’, ‘für’, ‘gegen’, ‘in’, ‘infolge’ and ‘von’, whereby ‘auf’ is the most commonly used one. The results of the analysis could provide aid in translation of Polish legal language sentences with preposition ‘na’ into German.
