Summary/Abstract: Discussions and disputes over values and ways of practicing them are always disputes about people and the shapes of the culture they create. The book refers to the original part of field research of an interdisciplinary study project that prepares a monograph of Zabrze. The first part presents sociological comments on the axiological identification of the city's inhabitants and moral culture viewed from the perspective of the acceptance of values and their relativization. The second part describes cultural patterns of urban religiousness and addresses the issue of updating religious values and practices in a situatioon caused by the outbreak of a global pandemic.
