Summary/Abstract: The monograph Polish Sign Language in the Experiences of People with Hearing Impairment, their Parents and Rehabilitators is a book in the field of surdopedagogy, dealing with the issue of the place that sign language occupies in the process of supporting the development of the deaf and hard of hearing. The authors themselves define this place as important in relation to early development support, education, and identity building, as well as what is broadly understood as the social integration of these groups. Their theoretical considerations are illustrated by research carried out in the interpretative praradigm. People with hearing impairment, as well as their parents and physiotherapists as respondents share their subjective view on the importance of sign language in their own life. In this way, for some of the respondents, the story about the place of sign language in their own experiences became a way of fighting for the right to disseminate this language as a means of communication between cultural minorities in Poland.
