Summary/Abstract: The book presents and evaluates the military and political activity of Duke Antoni Paweł Sułkowski in the years 1806–1836. During the Napoleonic era, his career path progressed surprisingly quickly. Having entered the military service in 1806 as a colonel, in just a few years he was promoted to the rank of major general in 1813. At the age of twenty-eight, he became the youngest soldier in this rank in the history of the Polish Army. He proved his military aptitude during the Napoleonic campaigns in Western Pomerania, Spain, Russia and Germany. In the study, the author has made an attempt to reconstruct Sułkowski’s system of values, as well as the goals and motivations that stemmed from that system.
