Summary/Abstract: This report discusses the issues of gas consumption in Germany and foreign supplies. The author has also examined the possibilities of replacing pipeline gas, which predominates at present, with imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) and domestic production of biogas and syngas. Most of the statistical data presented in this report originates from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and from Arbeitsgemeinschaft Energiebilanzen, an association of representatives of the German energy sector tasked with analysing statistical data from the energy sector. The author has also used, among other materials, reports and information from the German government and industry organisations.
