Summary/Abstract: The publication presents mixed methods research results looking at the lives of older people living in heterogeneous village areas. We focus on the discussion of myths related to rurality (rural idyll, rural as stable, green, and socially cohesive, but also ageing, poor, dull and deprived). The book thus complements currently absent reflection of dominant (social/political) concepts such as "active aging" or "age-friendliness" in the contexts of potentialy specific needs of the older rural population.
