Summary/Abstract: The publication Europe in the international monetary system analyzes the relationship between power, money, and state in the international environment. The main argument of the book, which is employed for the analysis of the European position in the international monetary system, is as follows. Money was created as, and still mainly is, a unit of account that is used for channeling the resources of the society for their usage in the public sector and in the interest of the public sector. The private sector employs money to a large extent only derivatively. There is a permanent struggle between interest groups in the society as for which group will contribute the most resources to the public sector.
