Summary/Abstract: The book describes the pronunciation of Dutch from the perspective of Czech speakers. It classifies Dutch as a Germanic language, explains its European varieties, and compares the sounds of Dutch and Czech. It serves as a guidebook for students of Dutch, in which they can learn how to pronounce individual sounds correctly, how not to confuse them with Czech sounds, and how to pronounce sounds in context. An important section is a treatise on the articulatory bases of both languages, which explains the use of speech organs and how they move, based on a comparison of vowel frequencies.
