Summary/Abstract: The book presents research conducted in a qualitative orientation. The subject of the research was the experience of interculturalism as reconstructed through the narratives of young adults of Jewish origin. The point of departure for the considerations was culture, seen as the totality of human living conditions created by a community. Being in two (or more) cultures, in turn, involves experiencing the differences with which a person has to cope. The main aim of the study was to reconstruct the cross-cultural experiences of young adults of Jewish origin. Twelve young adults of Jewish origin participated in the study. Data were collected through free-form interviews with narrative elements. A linguistic and narrative method consisting of the rules of Polish grammar, communicative grammar and narratology was developed for their analysis. The individual chapters are built up by three layers: theoretical, theoretical-methodological and analytical. The issues discussed in the first chapter are the source of the assumptions constituting the object of research and the possibilities of knowing it. The second chapter presents the methodological assumptions of the research. The third chapter presents the four key cases, i.e. the fate of those narrators whose experiences were most characteristic of the issues discussed. The fourth chapter presents a reconstruction of the cross-cultural experiences of young adults of Jewish origin. The analyses presented in chapter four led to the distinction of four types of coping with the experience of differences in the context of interculturalism. The analysis presented in the conclusion represents the highest level of generalisation and also relates directly to the adopted research objective.
