- Summary/Abstract:Today, poor academic performance is among the main concerns of teachers, curriculum developers and stakeholders in the entire education sector. Because low academic performance may negatively affect students' active participation in future national developments, their access to higher education institutions, and their ability to find employment in the highly competitive job market. It is very important to share information with the stakeholders involved in the determination of education policies in order to identify the factors that contribute positively to the academic performance of the students and to start the process of struggling quickly. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to examine the effects of teacher-student relationship on students' academic performance. Relational screening model was used in the study. The study group of the research consisted of a total of 159 students studying in the last year of high schools in a town with a population of approximately eighty thousand in a city in the Eastern Anatolia Region. The data of the study were collected with the help of a questionnaire. The data obtained in the study were transferred to the computer using the SPSS package program, and the average and standard deviation values were calculated and evaluated. As a result of the analysis of the data; In the study, it was observed that there was a significant relationship between the teacher-student relationship and the academic performance of the students. In addition, it was determined that the factors affecting the intimate relationship between teacher-student and students' academic performance depend on the level of communication between students and teachers, which plays a critical role. Some suggestions were presented in line with the findings of the study.

- Summary/Abstract:This study aimed to conduct a meta-evaluation of curriculum evaluation studies conducted in Turkey using Stufflebeam's CIPP evaluation model. The studies were examined in terms of both the criteria of the CIPP model and the appropriateness of the scientific research methodology, and an overall assessment was attempted to be presented. Adopting a qualitative research method, the study employed a case study design and was conducted as a meta-evaluation. The meta-evaluation of studies conducted in Turkey using Stufflebeam's CIPP evaluation model was carried out, and the current situation was attempted to be revealed through document analysis. Data were collected through the "Control Checklist for Suitability in Terms of the CIPP Evaluation Model" and the "Control Checklist for Suitability in Terms of Scientific Research Methodology" developed by the researchers. The population of the study consisted of all curriculum evaluation studies conducted with the CIPP Program Evaluation Model, and the sample consisted of 5 articles, 5 master's theses, and 5 doctoral dissertations randomly selected. The studies included in the meta-evaluation were examined by two experts, and the expressions "Yes," "No," and "Partially" were marked. Then, the opinions of the two experts were compared, and an attempt was made to reach a consensus, and a common decision was made about the degree to which the studies met the criteria. The study revealed that the studies largely aligned with the principles of the CIPP Program Evaluation Model, but some important principles were overlooked. Regarding the context dimension, the criteria were largely emphasized, but some principles, such as the level of responsiveness of the objectives to the needs, were neglected. In the process dimension, it was found that there were inconsistencies with the control checklist in terms of the identification of records and errors, despite the achievement of alignment between the planned and implemented activities. In the product dimension, it was concluded that the evaluation of the curriculum's product in relation to the context, input, and process was not conducted, and recommendations were ignored. In terms of compliance with scientific research criteria, the introduction, methodology, findings, conclusions, and recommendations were generally in line with the control checklist. However, it can be stated that there were deficiencies in problem statement and interpretation of results based on the authors' perspectives.

- Summary/Abstract:One of the most affected parties by the overnight transition to remote learning due to the pandemic undoubtedly has been university students. This study aims to reveal the advantages and disadvantages of the emergency remote teaching process based on the arguments developed by university students according to their views and experiences and rank them in order of importance. A total of 1323 university students volunteered to participate in the research, which was conducted using the phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research designs. The data collected through computer-mediated argumentation Delphi technique were analyzed using content analysis and descriptive statistics. As a result of the research, 84% of university students expressed negative views, while 16% expressed positive views regarding the emergency remote teaching process. Student views on the advantages of the process were grouped under two main themes in order of importance: convenience and security, and functionality of the learning environment. Student views on the disadvantages of the process were grouped under seven main themes in order of importance: problems related to the learning environment, lack of self-regulation and self-control, communication/interaction problems, health-related issues, assessment problems, departmental differences, and inequality of opportunities. The findings were discussed in the context of Turkey, and recommendations were made to policymakers, instructors, students, and researchers.

The educational yearbooks published by the state under the name of Salname-i Nezaret-i Maarif-i Umumiye, which is a work that deals with the education system of the Ottoman State holistically, were examined. In this study, a literature review was made, the data were collected with the document analysis technique and stated in the study. One of the qualitative research methods, descriptive analysis method was used and content analysis was also used. The aim of the study is to determine the writing education studies in the Ottoman Empire, the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, by examining the parts related to writing education in Turkish teaching, by using the archive documents and by going through the legislations given separately for schools, the subject is discussed and how the practice of writing education skills has been applied from past to present and with the theory of constructivism. It is aimed to determine the changes in the writing education skills in the understanding of co-writing education and to determine the pros/cons by consulting the practitioners of this work, that is, the teachers, the last point of the writing skill in question with this understanding. It can be said that the Ottoman state, the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which were determined as the research area of the study, were the source of writing education studies. As a result of the research, the Ottoman Empire saw and applied the skill of writing education as a unifying element in order to ensure the unity and peace of the people. In the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the writing education skill studies continued to be explained by the educator in a face-to-face classroom environment, in accordance with the general structure of the Turkish education system, by writing school slips and on the blackboard, and it has been seen that the analysis-synthesis method of writing education is preferred today.

- Summary/Abstract:The qualifications expected from a training individual differ with the change in science and technology. The contribution of science education in training qualified individuals for the needs of the 21st age is indisputable. For this reason, the content of effective science education has been inquired by various studies over the years. In this context, new educational trends have been spread for effective science education and their effectiveness have been evaluated. One of the fields that contribute to the science education literature is Curriculum and Instruction. In this chapter, the current trends in science education in the field of Curriculum and Instruction are discussed through a systematic review. In addition, the dissertations carried out in this field were examined through descriptive content analysis. For this purpose, the dissertations in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI) published in the last six years (2018-2023) in the Council of Higher Education Thesis Center database were scanned by using “science” as a keyword. They were analysed in terms of the distribution of them according to their publication year, master/doctoral studies, participants, purpose, and research methodology. Based on the results, a framework for current trends in science education in the field of Curriculum and Instruction has been established, and an up-to-date literature resource has been created for researchers.
