Summary/Abstract: The book examines the history of the Matrix Croatica (Matica hrvatska) from 1935 until the end of the Independent State of Croatia. It primarily focuses on the mutual influence and intertwining of the activities of the cultural institution and the ideology of the nationalist/Ustasha political movement, in two periods: first, when this movement was in opposition to the main political currents in the state, and second, when this movement attempted to create and organize a totalitarian state.
