Summary/Abstract: The book is based on analysis of palatalizations as phonological processes typical for the areas of both the Slavic and the Romance languages. Its scope is to shed light on the common features and the differences between these diachronic phenomena using the means of phonetics (articulatory, acoustic, perceptional) and of phonology from different stages of the evolution of this discipline (generative, linear and autosegmental, optimality theory).
