Summary/Abstract: This publication is a textbook, that is intended primarily for students of journalism, media and social communication, but also for students of philological faculties, especially interested in language studies. Based on a modern communicative methodology, it describes in a simple way all the mechanisms and rules, that determine every conversation. The author divided the book into two parts. The first part is composed of four chapters and describes the origins of communicative tools. The author explains issues such as: pragmatics, linguistic functions in communication, conversation theory and speech act theory. The second part - composed of three chapters – is a presentation of communicative research methods that can be used to analyze any discourse. Each chapter contains a short lecture, an example analysis, inspirations for those interested in a given topic, and finally a task and bibliographic tips.
