Summary/Abstract: One must admit that Michael Mann is not a typical tour guide on a journey through America. As a film director, he shows the viewer spectacular metropolises that reflect the mythology of late capitalism. Images of American cities bear witness to the numerous distortions of the present day. Is escape from ideology still possible in Michael Mann's films? The answer lies somewhere in the labyrinthine journeys that the protagonists make. The labyrinth is a key figure. According to one of the readers, even the structure of this book resembles a loop.
