Summary/Abstract: The publication constitutes the second volume of the series The World in Polish, addressed to students of the humanities and social sciences, especially those disciplines related to multiculturalism and multiethnicity, intersections of languages and cultures, ethnography and anthropology, etc., as well as students and teachers. The book Did the Kyrgyz get off his horse? Customs, language and culture of Kyrgyzstan through the eyes of a Kyrgyz Polish teacher is intended to introduce readers to an extremely appealing, exotic culture that is very little known in Poland, although it traces its root back to the distant past. The title of the publication refers to and paraphrases the well-known reportage by Ryszard Kapuściński, further referencing it in one of the chapters as it attempts to shed light on the actual ethnic origin of the titular rider. The author of the main text and the author-editors of additional texts present Kyrgyzstan through its complicated history, cultural realities, onomastics, topography, etc. The book will constitute an important publication that will showcase yet another avenue of research and teaching activities at the University of Silesia.
