Summary/Abstract: The publication has been produced primarily to ""open up selected topics"" related to the management of challenging, crisis and emergency situations by residential service workers, as they should be competent to respond and act effectively. In these situations, workers may face a sense of their own unpreparedness, which may stem not only from their personality, but also from their previous experience, knowledge and practical skills. Through the results and findings, the publication offers insights into what workers in residential service settings consider to be a challenging, crisis and/or emergency situation and event. The authors of the publication highlight (in the context of staff preparedness) situations related to dying and death of one or more residential service users.
