Summary/Abstract: In the book, the author presents a panorama of the fates of selected personalities whose roots are in the Czech lands and who achieved extraordinary success in the United States and whose activities significantly influenced the development and growth of the new homeland. It is a saga of ordinary and powerful people whose influence and importance often extended beyond the borders of the United States. However, a large number of the persons mentioned will certainly be completely unknown to the Czech readership, as their Czech origins were generally unknown. The book covers the entire period from the discovery of the New World to the beginning of the 21st century. The individual personalities were chosen solely according to the taste and interest of the author, and the selection was based on their importance, contribution and the interest of their lives, the only condition being that they were either born on Czech territory or were descendants of emigrants from Czech lands.
