Summary/Abstract: The analysis of intergenerational transfers provides an opportunity for understanding the interaction between the age structure of the population and well-being. The National Transfer Accounts methodology expands possibilities for a comprehensive description of income and consumption by age and sex, reallocations by age, both public and private, asset-based transfers and reallocations, building a generational economy account consistent with national accounts. The key category of the CNT presents the life-cycle deficit, which is calculated as the difference between age-specific consumption (private and public) and labor income. The life cycle deficit allows the measurement and analysis of the degree of economic dependence of the population during its lifetime.
