Summary/Abstract: This is the first academic study of its kind in the field of Polish glottodidactics. It discusses the concept of coaching in foreign language learning as a form of working with foreign language learners to help them understand their goals, resources, needs and strategies more fully, and to encourage them to manage their own language development actively and consciously. This management is made possible by learners gaining self-awareness, which can also be understood as integrating knowledge about themselves. Participants also describe it as an 'Aha' moment or insight from which there is no turning back. One participant in the study puts it this way: ""That kind of moment, maybe it was in the first session, a kind of discovery that I actually had it all in my own head without realising it, and that session pulled it all out of me and put it all together"".The conclusions in the monograph are based on the analysis of authentic coaching dialogues/conversations (over 36 hours of recordings) and evaluation interviews. The book provides a comprehensive presentation of counselling and coaching in foreign language learning as a contemporary, innovative trend in foreign language teaching, as well as a promising area of glottodidactic research."
