Summary/Abstract: The volume discusses the biographies and selected works of primarily first-generation Chicana authors – Ana Castillo, Sandra Cisneros, Cherrie Moraga, and Carla Trujillo – as well as Reyna Grande as a younger representative of Chicana literature. All of these writers share a feminist perspective and concentrate on themes of crossing borders (both physical and symbolic) and issues arising from belonging to the Mexican-American diaspora in the United States. Their work constitutes a significant contribution to contemporary American literature.
