Summary/Abstract: The textbook consists of two parts. The first one, Sounds of Music (pol. dźwięki muzyki), was inspired by two lectures given for many years as part of the second-cycle (master's) course in acoustics at the Faculty of Physics at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań: Musical Acoustics and Environmental Acoustics. In Sounds of Music, we find a description of the phenomena accompanying the formation, i.e. generation, of waves carrying musical sounds. The second part of the book, Sounds of War (pol. dźwięki wojny), was written as a response to the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, when on 24 February 2022, alarm sirens and explosions replaced the sound of the wind and the splash of the sea. This section deals with the phenomena accompanying the transmission i.e. propagation of waves carrying the sounds of war.
