Summary/Abstract: The monograph Expressions of rebellion. On the religious convictions of female poets was conceived as a kind of continuation or sequel to the research on contemporary women's literature, the first part of which was published in the volume The passion for vanishing and the passion for preserving: on women writers' diaries (2019). The works presented here deal with those dimensions of women's rebellion against reality that seemingly do not violate social orders, yet ultimately reveal all their faults and inconveniences from multiple perspectives. The confessions of Anna Świrszczyńska, Halina Poświatowska and Justyna Bargielska, poets from different eras of contemporary literature and, moreover, presenting their rebellious attitude towards the world at different stages of their biographies, are examined in detail. Examining their lyrical strategies and the message emerging from them makes it possible to trace both the differences in the ways they express their disagreement with reality and the similarities in their rebellious expression. Common and characteristic features of the poets’ work are the uncompromising unveiling of their own subjectivity and an extremely individualistic view of the surrounding reality: these make it possible, when examining their literary confessions, to broaden individual interpretations to include the contexts of cultural and moral change in the 20th and 21st centuries.
