Summary/Abstract: The book contains a linguistic and cultural analysis and interpretation of lexical changes that occurred in the Polish language during the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic. The authors mainly look at neologisms, i.e. new words, collocations and phraseologies. They also take into account linguistic units that previously existed in the medical language, but were de-terminologized during the pandemic and became part of the general variety of the language. In addition, they point out a sharp increase in the frequency of lexemes and word combinations that were used much less frequently before the pandemic. The language units presented here include numerical and chronological data from the MoncoPL and FBL Risercz corpora as well as quotations from online texts collected from March 2020 to the end of 2023. Loanwords from English were verified based on The Coronavirus Corpus. Neologisms are presented in a thematic arrangement, which reveals the presence in the Polish language of not only medical vocabulary, which goes without saying, but also lexis from many other spheres of life.
