Summary/Abstract: In the first chapter, a general overview on populism is given, while in the second one, types of populism are discussed. In the third chapter, these types are correlated to political parties, while in the fourth chapter, populist parties in Western democracies (Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom and the European Union) are analysed. The fifth chapter gives us a look at populism in Central and Eastern Europe, while the last two chapters discuss populism from the perspective of globalization and democracy.
