Summary/Abstract: Everyday male chauvinism is the form of intimate partner violence that is not called violence. This book makes visible and classifies those everyday manifestations of power over women that are an unnamed part of everyday relationships for the time being. The exhaustive lists assist men, women and professionals working in the field of domestic violence in recognising and combating the hidden forms of intimate partner violence. The term “male chauvinism” is a faithful representation of how sexism is related to other ideologies based on discrimination. It is “everyday” not only because it happens every day but also because the origin of the values and principles that are realised in it is lost in the past, and that is one reason why it seems natural and immutable.
