Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims at outlining the development of the Polish thirdsector since 1989. The emergence and growth of the Polish civil society,its professionalization and specialization constitute a crucial aspect of thedemocratization of Poland. These processes also happen to fit in the largerphenomena of social and political convergence in Europe.
