Summary/Abstract: A volume of correspondence between Leonidas Donskis and Tomas Venclova. Two Lithuanian intellectuals - Venclova, from his youth associated with the anti-communist opposition, finally deprived of citizenship by the authorities of the USSR, and Donskis, a philosopher and active participant in the public debate, conduct a very deep exchange of ideas. Their lists, however, go beyond personal experience - the subject of talks are predictions expressed in Eastern Europe, in which dissidents, oppositionists, social critics, writers and commentators from this region have determined the location, possibilities and future of Europe and the world. The review of forecasts, both conservative and reactionary, such as liberal and democratic, also includes a thorough diagnosis of the present situation - the time of serious challenges and crises over the policy of Vladimir Putin and the situation in Ukraine. Prophecies of Eastern Europeans directly affected by totalitarianism of the twentieth century, which also marked the fate of their countries, are of great value, especially in the face of contemporary challenges facing our part of Europe.
