Summary/Abstract: "Radio Free Europe and Radio Svoboda. CIA and further years "is the first fully documented position presenting the backstage and the first twenty years of operation of these stations. The study is based on queries carried out in archives in the USA, Germany, Poland and Hungary as well as on the basis of secret CIA files. A. Ross Johnson, assistant to the Polish section of Radio Free Europe, then, in 1988-1991, director of RWE, and today his historian, allows a closer understanding of the assumptions on which the Radio program was based, also answers questions about the relationship between the radio station and the CIA Department of State. The book also follows the development of the American-Eastern European partnership in the creation of RWE, not omitting controversial topics, such as the use of Józef Światła's accounts or the evaluation of Wiesław Gomułka's reforms after 1956.
